To make the most of the resources at hand, the artisans carefully combine two pieces of wood, obscuring the seam in the rim to disguise any signs of joinery with innovative design practices. Each bowl is made from Toki wood (Japanese horse chestnut), known for its durability and fine grain. A finish of urushi lacquer protects it from
